How Deadly Does a Virus Have to Be?

America is fast approaching a state of severe limitations on normal freedom.  While these restrictions are said to be temporary, I am beginning to be concerned that the erosion of American liberty is going to far.  So, I propose the following scenario up for debate:

Suppose that a global pandemic is sweeping the world and threatening America with the same contagious degree and nature as the Coronavirus; however, the virus is only twice as deadly as the common flu--rather than ten times.  Should the U.S. government be issuing the same level of restrictions on freedom and erosion of individual liberty as it is doing with this ten times the common flu threat?

The Coronavirus Endgame

If there is one area of the economy that shows the true colors of government regulation in the current Coronavirus pandemic; it is biotechnology.  Big Pharma and Biotech would already have cures and be marketing them if it wasn't for government regulatory departments--such as the FDA.

The profit motive is not the only issue that determines if a biotech company pursues one or more cures.  The business has to at least break even!  If the money isn't there from selling cures to customers, the biotech company literally cannot function.

So, I have thought of a brilliant idea that (if implemented) would solve the Coronavirus problem in months--not years.

President Trump should put together a pledge to present to Big Pharma and Biotech that in essence says the following:

"America faces a daunting adversary in the form of the Coronavirus disease.  If you save us, I pledge to issue an executive order and try to persuade all Republicans in Congress to forever repeal the FDA and everything the FDA could become."
