Lament for Squirrel Hill

I am outraged by the news of the Synagogue shooting in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh.  Not only did I grow up in Pittsburgh from ages 3 to 12, but, we actually lived in Squirrel Hill for those 9 years.  That area has a large Jewish population and is commonly known as a Jewish Community.  Many of my friends were Jewish.  Our neighbors were Jewish.  And, I attended a private school next to a Jewish Community Center building which we would walk over to in order to have gym class in its big, basement pool.  While walking through that building, I remember seeing art pictures on the walls portraying horrific images that I learned were drawn by Jews who were still dealing with the nightmares of Nazi Germany.  You see, I am 46 years old; and my childhood took place only a few decades after Hitler.  Many of those who were children during WWII were not really that old back when I lived in Squirrel Hill.

In regard to the individual who decided to murder the innocent people of Squirrel Hill, which had become a safe haven--healing the memories of history's senseless carnage, I have one observation.  He made a big mistake in surviving his act.  Trump is going to eat him alive.
